The signet ring holds a storied place in jewellery history, traditionally used to seal documents with wax. Today, it serves as a powerful statement of personal style. Astley Clarke’s Polaris Signet Ring reinvents this classic silhouette with a celestial influence.
The ring features a 9mm mother of pearl inlay that provides a luminous, iridescent backdrop. Embedded within this is a star-set created white sapphire, representing Polaris — the North Star. This motif symbolises guidance and direction, adding a layer of meaning to its striking aesthetic.
Constructed from 18ct gold-plated recycled sterling silver, the ring offers a substantial feel with a 2.5mm band width. It is designed to be worn on the pinky for a traditional look, or on the ring or middle finger for a bolder contemporary statement.
The 9mm circular inlay uses high-quality mother of pearl, prized for its natural iridescence. It catches the light differently from every angle, providing a pearlescent glow that contrasts beautifully with the warm gold setting.
The North Star design is achieved through traditional star-setting techniques. A created white sapphire is set flush into the mother of pearl, surrounded by an engraved starburst pattern that creates the illusion of radiating light.
The substantial base of recycled sterling silver is finished with an 18ct gold plating. The band tapers comfortably towards the back, measuring 2.5mm at its thinnest point, ensuring everyday wearability without sacrificing impact.
